I remember as a child in school during history lessons, thinking that all these amazingly historic things that I was studying about were done. That nothing so historical would ever happen in my lifetime that would end up in history books. Well, as I think back, plenty of historical things have happened in my first 30 years, and some I even remember watching on the news when I was a child. I can remember the news coverage of the Berlin Wall coming down in 1989. I remember a lot of news coverage involving Gorbechav and Reagan, and then the fall of the iron curtain. I remember multiple successful space missions and being present for the shuttle landing in Mojave. And the tragic unsuccessful space missions. All of these things seemed relatively insignificant to me at the time because I was so young, but I can see the magnitude of them now. I would hear my parents and grandparents talk about remembering where they were when certain things in history took place and I always thought that sounded funny. But I most definitely remember where I was on September 11, 2001. What I would like for you to know, Blynn and Rusty, is that yesterday was a truly significant day in our history. You may not realize the magnitude of it while you are growing up with our first African-American president, but there have been decades and decades of history laid down for this moment.
Whether this was your choice for president or not, we do know that our God is a Sovereign God. Daniel 1: 20-21 states "Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes time and seasons; He sets up kings and deposes them."

Wonderful. I don't even think I can grasp the full historical weight yet. If you can find Maya Angelou's interview from Wed. morning on the Early Show, watch it. She's come the closest to explaining the magnitude of this situation.
