Tour of Blynn

One of my favorite things to do is take the kid's bikes to our local park that has a great paved path all around it. I'll jog along side of them while they ride. The kids and I have faithfully been watching the Tour of California. But while we were at the park on Saturday:
Me: "Blynn, you are like the bike racers we see on tv."
Blynn: "Yeah, and you are like the naked people that run along side of them."

I think she could be thinking about him.

Or him.

But, I'm pretty sure she's talking about these guys. Rusty thought these guys were hilarious.

Mother's Day Outfits

Aren't these kids adorable. This started as a birthday present for Sam and turned into cute outfits for church today.
I took a plain dress from Kmart that cost far less than I could make myself.

Ironed some red material to some wonder under and cut it imperfectly.

Only the bottom red circle has wonder under. I did the rest of the layers without. I personally love raw edges with all the strings and I also like the imperfect circles and the scribbly stitching. I realize this is a style that not everyone loves. Then I took a green ribbon and stitched it on making sure to stop and add in the loop for a leaf.

Then I moved onto these bad boys. I have been wanting to sew for the boys, but really what do you sew for boys. We were at a craft fair and my sister and I saw ties sewn onto shirts. I can do that. So, again, I took some plain shirts from Kmart and with the wonder of wonder under, I cut out these ties and sewed them on.
Sam came over to see his present with his Venom costume on which has seen better days and was holding on by a thread, so I asked him to take it off (which is very embarrassing to him for me to see him with his shirt off) and I sewed it up for him. Now he thinks I am the greatest seamstress that ever lived and asked me tonight if I could make a cover for his DS. Brilliant idea, Sam!!

I couldn't resist throwing one together for Rusty too! And every bowtie needs a pencil in the pocket.

And now for the exhaustive photo shoot. If only we had a fan and lights.

Mother's Day Tea

Blynn's preschool does a Mother's Day tea and it turned out to be one of my favorite days yet. Each child filled out a card with the help of the teacher for their mom, and this is what Blynn said: You are special because: you love me! My favorite thing about you is: that she had me as a baby! Thank you for: Rusty! (Didn't realize I would be needing kleenex for mother's day tea.)
They sang songs for us and did a reenactment of The Very Hungry Caterpillar which was adorable.
I told Blynn she could pick out my outfit and this morning when she told me she wanted to pick a dress, I had to inform her that mommy did not shave her legs. Who would have known that of all the things in my closet she was wanting me to wear my one dress. Oops! So she picked out something else, something else that we had just worn this week (twice), but oh well.
My sister and Sam.

Blynn and her teachers.

With one of her classmates.

My sister informed me that I was the only one taking pictures during prayer. And I informed her that God does not require us to have our eyes closed or our cameras off during prayer, only the pharisees do.

Fairy Gardens and one Cute Girl

We spent some time today creating a fairy village. My Grandma has always had this great miniature clover stuff on one side of the house and it was perfect for our fairy garden.
These were the only figurines that Blynn was willing to get dirty.

On another note: I was able to go to a craft fair this weekend and I bought Blynn and I these cute hair accessories and we decided to model them for you.

Isn't she so cute.
