Field Trip

In 1986, my sister and I were in a combined 5th/6th combo class and we had a field trip out to my grandparents ranch. This is our class back then. You'll see this trailer again.

In October we had Luke, Blynn and Sam's classes out for that same field trip.

Rusty and Papa waiting for the bus to arrive. (There's the trailer)

Blynn was so excited to ride the bus home.

We started by gathering in prayer and we ended this way too!

They went on a tractor/trailer ride, pulled up some raisins on trays, saw them shaking raisins, watched them shake some walnut trees (that was their favorite), and ate lunch.

And then, after the bus left, and we were left behind to clean up; we had a dance party on the driveway (which is where we have all our dances) to "I Heard it Through the Grapevine".

Soon, I'll show you what we did when we went to the school to get the kids excited about coming out to the ranch. And this is Luke's reaction when we were in his class. He was laughing so hard that he was crying. You may too, so brace yourself.

She's Sea Worthy

This is so exciting and it turned out to be so much fun.

Who's that handsome guy?

Or that one?

Or that one?

Blynn loves a good photo shoot

especially when it involves her. She does enjoy watching Project Runway with me for three reasons: 1. it means she is staying up late 2. she is into or curious about sewing 3. the catwalk down the runway (I think this is where she gets all of her moves)

I also live vicariously through my daughter because I will never be able to rock the super skinny jean. And Blynn does it well. So here I am living through her. It has already started.

I felt like these pictures were more appropriate than the bikini pictures. Also something I will never nor was ever able to wear.

We need some sort of signal

Todd called me the other day to inform me that he would be flying over the house at 2:00pm. So the kids and I went outside a little before the designated time and laid here for the next 35 minutes looking for Daddy. I'm not sure Todd is aware how big the sky is and how bright the sun is at 2pm or how hot it is and how cool it is in our air conditioned house. So he called me at around 3:30 to ask if we saw him. Seriously, if you don't make one of those white trails or honk, we cannot possible see you. But, nevertheless, we tried.

Fred

Speaking of roosters... we have one. Well, actually it is a chicken and it inhabited our property for 2 days. The kids loved it but we don't know where he went. (you're welcome coyotes)

Todd and I have wanted chickens for awhile. One of the many projects we would like to accomplish out here on the farm. We'll see how long it takes us to get it done. So much research involved. Maybe Easter would be a good goal.

Rusty needs a haircut

because if he's not looking like Liza Minnelli......

he's looking a lot like a rooster.

One of my favorite things

Rusty fell asleep on me like this. With his arm propping him up. I think he is going through a growth spurt or something because he has been taking naps again. And if he doesn't get the nap in, he sleeps in until 7:30. I love it!!!

We officially have a Kindergartner

Sorry guys (to the two people who read the blog), life has been very busy lately. Todd and I have been doing a lot of things around the house, Blynn started school, my bible study started, and soccer started. Anyway, I have not been energetic enough to blog. But I'm catching up now.
So Blynn officially started school in August. That morning we celebrated with the breakfast of her choice on the "You are Special" plate. Did you have one of these growing up?

This "first day of school picture on the porch" is a tradition and maybe I'll post all of mine in succession sometime because that would be a good laugh for you all. (but lots of scanning work for my dad as they are slides)

I also went to this same classroom.

The thing that makes me feel the most like a mom of a kindergartner is packing her lunch. And I need some ideas? It is a lot of pressure.

Cami, is that how you spell kindergartner because it does not look right?
